Jameson had very few expectations from others. Only two that he could think of at the moment. His boss expected him to come into work when he was scheduled to make drinks for the old alcoholics. Also, his dog expected him to feed him, walk him, and showed him with all sorts of attention. Conversely, Jameson expected his boss to compensate him monetarily for his time. He also expected his dog to not shit on the floor when he was home alone. Everything was an exchange in life.
As the man sat back, relaxing on a park bench after a stroll around the neighborhood park, he was not sure how he felt. He almost seemed to be happy and sad at the same time. It was hard for him to conceptualize how this could be. One one hand, he enjoyed that the pressure was off of him. All he had to do was be a normal human being. There was no more breaking the law, sneaking around, and club obligations, But on the other hand, it was a boring and somewhat lonely life. His parents had finally been told where he was. Their disapproval of his choices caused them to sever their ties with him. Jameson was thirty-three, but it still hurt a little to know his parents are disappointed in him. Jameson brushed those thoughts to the side. The past was the past and he was ultimately living his life the way that he felt was best. It was not necessarily the way that he wanted to be living, but he also could not allow himself to do things that would put him back in prison.
A smiles formed over his lips as the big, brindle baby at his feet finally stopped pacing around and laid down contentedly. He wanted to reach down and scratch his hind legs for him, but he knew that would only cause the dog to get back up excitedly. Jameson decided that he would just be. He was alright with just sitting there, relaxing and taking in the beautiful weather.
Just as soon as he sunk back on the bench, his peace was disturbed as his pretty pit started to growl, low and rumbling in the back of his throat. Jameson instinctively held the leash a little tighter, and turned his attention to the person walking down the park path.

David, for the most part always stayed at work no matter what. He lived there, often only leaving for a walk or even to get food, only to return and stay for long hours. If he had a family, it would have been a lot different. He would work strictly 9 to five and be there to help cook dinner and help the kids with their homework. Sadly, at thirty he lacked everything he ever wanted. No family, not even a girlfriend. He did, however, have animals, but he always brought them to work.
As a filler for children at the moment, David had two great Danes named Hades, which was all black, and Hermes, a white Dane with brown spotting. They were large regal dogs, perfect for David’s size. He could handle them since he had a tight grip on their leashes whenever they walked in public. While they did wonderful off leash, David wasn’t about to risk his dogs scaring anyone or causing damage, especially to a child or smaller dog. There were times that his Danes forgot about their humongous size, and the fact they were only a few years old – they had the energy of a puppy when they got playful. As much as he would have loved to take them all to the doggie park, there would be complaints, and Lord only knew some shit head would make a scene and David would be branded as a dog killer or something. A slim chance, sure, but not one he was willing to take. After all, in his field of work – people would do anything to get money from a wealthy person.
Due to the fact, his office was currently renovating plumbing, David wasn’t able to stay in his office. He had the whole day off which was weird for him since he was used to working nonstop every day. David was one of those people who needed to be doing something, so he decided he’d take Hades and Hermes on a long walk through town – starting with the park. The Danes were excited, barking and wagging their tails as David grabbed their leashes. Once leashed, and David made sure he had everything – he headed to the park.
It was maybe a ten-minute walk before he hit the entrance. There were children who weren’t old enough for school yet with their parents watching or chatting with other parents. Oh, how he was envious. David had continued down the path before he felt a tug on both of the leashes. Hades and Hermes had sniffed out a dog. It was a pit bull, a gorgeous dog in David’s eyes. If he didn’t have Danes, he’d have a few pits since they were one of the most loyal dogs out there. Sensing that his dogs wanted to play, David did a loud click of his tongue, and his dogs slowed down their pace as the approached closer.

The whole having a dog thing was new to Jameson. Well, kind of sort of. There was a pack of pits at the clubhouse in Oakland, but they were there for security purposes. That's not to say that they did not get their fair share of table scraps and belly rubs. However, they certainly did not live the same cushy lifestyle that Atticus here did. There was no way that his former lifestyle would have worked for having a dog. Jameson was constantly out and about around town, as well as cross country runs with the pack.
Adopting Atticus from the local shelter was nearly the first thing that Jameson did when he decided to make a home out of this small Alabama town. He was not really sure what called him to do it, but it just felt right. As much as he had saved Atticus, the brindle butt had saved him. Having a responsibility such as him really kept Jameson out of trouble, which was great. Jameson wanted to go out drinking? Nope, Atticus was expecting his dinner at 6:30 sharp.
With the dog being a rescue, Jameson was not sure what sort of history that he had. So far he had been proving to be quite the companion, with a solid temperament. Every once in awhile, he would show off some sort of new quirk. This was one of those times, Atticus rarely uttered a growl. "Relax, boy," Jameson said quietly running a hand over his head several times. The dog instantly relaxed, seeming to trust in his owner. Atticus began to pant and wag his tail as his butt raised in the air, a playful pose as the other dogs approached with their owner.
Jameson let out a little chuckle looking at the dog squirming with excitement. It immediately put him in the best mood. "Beautiful dogs you've got there," he said to the owner as he eyed the dogs. It was very rare for a sober Jameson to strike up a conversation with a stranger, but he was feeling friendly and social. "Mind if Atticus introduces himself to them?" he asked still holding onto the dogs leash tighter than necessary. Who knew if those monsters were as friendly as his dog. Better safe than sorry.
