She had two parents who made decent money, an older brother who cared about her dearly, and intelligence to take her far in life. What seems perfect isn't always so of course. Senior year of high school Katerina discovered she was pregnant, only to lose the baby and break her boyfriend's heart when she left just after to go to college early and take summer classes. Since then she hasn't come back to the town she saw as holding her back her whole life. She went on to college at the University of Alabama for two years before transferring to University of Georgia for a third year where she met her most recent boyfriend, graduating early, and then going to law school at Vanderbilt University. From there her life seemed to fall into place with internships and multiple job offers eventually bringing her to Atlanta where she worked for a large corporate law firm. Katerina's life seemed perfect again. Her boyfriend even proposed, and then she turned him down, finding out a day later that she was pregnant, which led her to the decision not to go through with the pregnancy, because she didn't want to have a child. All of this happened in her life while back home in Ellisville, the town she refused to go to, her mother had been battling alzheimer's, which led to her death. Katerina finally gave in and decided to go back to the town, because she needed a change from living her fast paced life in Atlanta. Life hasn't been exactly easy for her since returning, because she is dealing with her own personal demons, and she can't decide what to do with her degrees anymore, bringing her to take on odd cases from people she knows during the daytime, mostly small things, and the occasional case in one of the nearby cities, and then at night to keep her mind busy and for extra cash she works as a bartender.[break][break]

Friends. Katerina may still have some old friends she talks to on occasion in the town who will be there for her from the time she arrives, but she also needs some new ones. She's been hardworking her whole life, and has worked various jobs in service industries, so she has no problem with talking to new people, so if someone isn't a big talker, she will carry on the conversation for herself. As long as you don't pry into her family and love life, she probably won't have a problem with you.[break][break]

Enemies. Katerina did break up with her high school boyfriend by saying she was sorry and leaving town, so any of his friends would probably not be a fan of her. She is also seen as an outsider at times, although she is from the town, because she left for so long, and has been working in the corporate world, so some people may see her as being out of touch. People can see he as being ungrateful for what she has been given, since she always wants something more from herself and for her life, and her goal had been to leave the town and never come back.[break][break]

Loves. Katerina experienced her first love when she was in high school and has never gotten over him. Since then she has been a serial monogamist. She dated one guy at Alabama, then she dated another from the end of her first semester at Georgia until she broke up with him at the end of July. She can be seen as both ready to commit long term, but also as someone not ready for marriage. Right now she has no intentions of dating anyone, and just wants to figure her life out, so she may go on a date or two to entertain herself, but other than that there isn't room for too much in her love life.

Well as we discussed, they are the same age and they both ended up leaving about the same time for college. This means they probably know each other. What sort of person was Kat way back in school. He was the bookworm sort of person and when he was younger, he did play football given the pressure, but he quit and decided to simply study instead of worry about going around and making friends. Back in elementary school before the dark ages for him, which everyone probably would know about, he was a really nice sort of kid, but then he shoved everyone away. What sort of relationship would you think the two of them would've had? I'm honestly open to any and all sorts of ideas. While he was pushing people away when in school, he did have a couple of friends, so they could possibly know each other through that and things such as that. Given she's a pretty girl, he probably thought she was pretty in school though, but not necessarily have a crush on her.

Kat was the typical overachiever in high school. She worked hard in school to get the grades to go to college on scholarship, was involved in multiple after school activities like student council and honor societies, and still managed to maintain somewhat of a social life, although she was not the person going out drinking every single weekend. I think they would have been the kind of people who probably knew each other, maybe were even friends before he lost his sister and mother, but they grew apart, because he pushed people away, and she didn't ever try to fix their friendship. Now they actually have a lot more in common than they probably know, because they've both lost people, and they both never wanted to come back to the town. She's now no longer the overachiever she once was and finds herself in the town she never thought she would return to.

It sounds pretty good. I like the idea they were friends when they were younger and then he pushed her away. When they meet up, it would be interesting to see their reaction to each other. I was looking at the post in the sheriff's office and thinking about replying to it.  As for future relationship, I think they could be friends, so long as she can deal with him being sarcastic to her.  He can be a bit mean, but he won't be mean without a reason, and I'm sure she'd call him out, which would be good.   I think their similarities and situations right now will help bring them together, consoled by the fact they're in the same situation and can understand each other and what they're feeling.

Moving forward she could definitely use a friend who understands her situation of feeling stuck in the town she was trying to get away from. She can handle sarcasm, and wouldn't hesitate to call him out if he was being too mean in a situation. Right now Kat doesn't have a lot of people she would call friends, just because she had been gone for so long, and before she left she was supposed to marry a guy, so having one friend would be really good for her.
