Headphones in as she walked down the hallway, Svetlana tried to just relax, although her nerves were running high, and she needed to get out of her head for a little while. She was about to go to her first meetings for the movie she had a supporting role in within a few days, which would be the biggest thing she had done so fare in her life. She had never been so excited for something that she hadn't been able to sleep well, or that she didn't know what to do with herself during her extra free period. Once filming started, she would be able to leave campus early, but for the time being, she didn't really know what to do with the extra time in the afternoon. She didn't have voice lessons, or a rehearsal for a school play or musical, or a dace lesson, so she found herself wandering toward the auditorium she knew would be empty for the time being. She liked the quiet time when there was no one else in there, because it meant she could think through things, work on lines or numbers for whatever she had coming up for school, or she could just dance some on her own.
When the bell released Svetlana from her final class, the young brunette had quickly made her way to the bathroom nearest the auditorium where she could change from what she wore to school, which was something different every day. Instead of the black skirt and red high neck halter top she had worn to school that morning, she left the bathroom in a pair of nike leggings with a gray wrap tank top, a black shrug covering her shoulders she would undoubtedly take off the minute she got warm, and light pink leg warmers to give help with her constantly tight right calf and the other just to match. With her headphones in, Svetlana made her way to the auditorium in her silver Nike sneakers, hoping she was right and there wasn't anything going on in there. It was a Friday, and this class period didn't have a drama class, which meant the only reason she would find anyone else in there would be if another student was using the space. In a small town, not too many people were interested in acting, singing, and dancing like she was. She had even begged her parents at a younger age to send her to a performing arts school in California, but that didn't happen, because they were a little overprotective at times. She didn't even tell them she had auditioned for the movie until after she got the role, and she lied to the producers and said she was eighteen when she auditioned.
As she walked into the auditorium Svetlana took a careful look around to be sure no one else was there with her. If there was someone, she could find somewhere else, or if it was someone she knew and liked, she would hang out with them, although she was a little picky when it came to some of her friends. With no one else in the room, Svetlana wandered up to the front, dropping her bag into one of the chairs in the front row. Instead of walking around to the side of the stage, she pushed herself up on the front of the stage and sat there for a moment, scrolling through the music on her phone, trying to find something to listen to, unsure of her plans still. She didn't have anything to rehearse or practice, so she had the freedom to work on some skill work, or just use dancing as a way to destress from the way she felt leading into her first days on the set and with the other actual actors.
Svetlana clicked on a playlist of various music as she began to stretch out her legs using some dynamic stretching techniques. Her whole life seemed to revolve around a few select things, and dance was just one of them, and not even the one where she really had a chance at the moment. She got her role in the movie because of acting, not because of dancing, but it was a good way to get some endorphins and relieve some stress from her life.
Getting up from where she sat stretching, and after sliding into the splits once, Svetlana decided that was enough stretching, although she frequently underestimated how much she needed to stretch and warm-up before dancing. Using her headphones to flip to the next song, Svetlana knew what was coming up next, and while many would be embarrassed to be dancing to Britney Spears, it was good music for this sort of thing. Something up tempo and a little repetitive, which was perfect, and she knew choreography to the music in the first place, which made it a good warm-up if she wanted to do anything like work on a high kick or something, as one day her goal was to be on broadway.
As she danced while other people finished up classes for the day, other than seniors like her with a free period at the end of the day, she began to zone out, not thinking about anything else, almost forgetting she was in the school at all. In her mind she was dancing for something else, other than school performances when they had actual choreography. Svetlana was so far away in her mind and with the music in her ears, she wouldn't notice anything going on around her.
With one misstep, this focus was broken as she fell to the ground with a sharp pain in her back. Injury was all too familiar for her, but this was not something she normally had trouble with. With her focus now on the pain, Svetlana remained unaware that she was not alone in the auditorium anymore.
